New ways to offer help amidst outbreak of COVID-19
Despite the outbreak of the coronavirus, Saving Lives continue to step forward to help the vulnerable at the Myanmar Thabarwa Nature Centre and residents from other places.
January 2020
In Jan 2020, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, we could not travel to Myanmar Thabarwa Nature Centre to distribute the rice personally. Thus, we engaged the help of a local resident, Mdm Liu Zhen Zhen (刘珍珍), to distribute on behalf of "Saving Lives".

The ‘SBS’, an organisation also based in Singapore, heard about our cause and responded positively to our donation drive, helping to raise sufficient funds to purchase 206 packs of rice in a short period of time. "Saving Lives" then donated it to the Thabarwa Nature Centre (Thanlyin Myanmar).
October 2021
On 13 October 2021, Saving Lives purchased rice to be sent to Thabarwa Nature Centre (Thanlyin Myanmar) again. The Centre received the rice on 14 October 2021, which was well received by the volunteers. The rice was donated by the following generous donors:
1) 20 packs of rice for donations raised by "Saving Lives".2) 80 packs of rice from Goh Joo Hin Pte. Ltd. Singapore
The abbot of the Thabarwa Nature Centre (Thanlyin Myanmar) sincerely thanked the charitable people from Singapore’s “Saving Lives” and Goh Joo Hin Pte. Ltd. He was highly appreciative of the fact that despite the pandemic, they did not forget to donate rice to the elderly, the weak, and the disabled who needed help. He also wished all generous donors good health, prosperity and happiness in their lives.
Besides the donation to nursing home, "Saving lives" also sent 20 packs of rice to the children in the Shwe Gu Monastery Orphanage on 21st October. The master of the orphanage is very happy and grateful, because very few people come here to donate. The little novices happily helped carry the rice and finally they can have a full plate of hot rice for dinner.
December 2021
As we approach the end of the year with a reflective mind and a grateful heart, we must also remember the people in Myanmar whose days have worn on like years as they lack essentials like rice and food, especially for the old, weak, sick and disabled. With the focus on helping these groups, Saving Lives has been working tirelessly to seek ways to gather donations of rice.
On December 8th and 11th 2021, Saving Lives donated 100 packs and 20 packs of rice respectively to the Thabarwa Nature Centre in Thanlyin, Myanmar and the Shwe Gu Monastery Orphanage in Bagan, Myanmar. We hope that these packages will bring them some warmth and hope as the year draws to an end.
